Dear CarePacks Team,
I would like to thank you for your generous support in providing care packages to our troops in Afghanistan. Since arriving in Afghanistan less than two weeks ago, I have received 19 CarePacks boxes. I have already distributed 9 of the boxes to our troops at various location, and I plan to distribute the rest in the coming days and weeks.
Thanks again for your generosity in supporting our troops!
Blessings,

Good Morning Carepacks:
Thank-you for the care packages which arrived recently. They have closed the gyms and rec centers indefinitely. These centers were what kept us sane due to the lack of other normal living activities so your time and generosity will be one of the few shining moments left. Life these days is certainly stranger than fiction as they say.
Kind Regards,
Darryl Lewis

That was quick. They arrived yesterday. Fantastic shipment. We began unpacking and putting out the items as soon as we received them. It’s like Christmas for my Religious Affairs NCO and others he recruits to help unpack the items. We’ll also begin taking them to other sections in the upcoming weeks. Very well received.

Thank you so much for the care packages. We received several and they’re very much appreciated. They were re-directed to the Chapel and distributed to multiple units and Service Members. Surplus items are available in our Chapel pantry. The cards from the children and others were also very encouraging. We arrived in February and will leave in October and would welcome any additional packages you could send. Thank you for your efforts to remind Service Members of a caring nation. Thank you for thinking about and praying for us.

My name is Sgt Colegrove with the Marine Corps currently deployed. I replaced SSgt Robello who is the one you originally sent the care package to, so the package was given to myself and my fellow Marines in my shop to open. WE just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are part of the Intelligence section here and with that comes long hours and fighting our enemies through a computer screen controlling machines, which is a type of heavy stress on its own. That’s why sweet, caring jesters as your care packages help ground us. Let’s us see the good in the world instead of what we view every day here. Most of us are well taken care of by our own families and in today’s day and age, it’s not hard to stay in contact back home; it’s mostly the ones without a family of their own that struggle. Today, you helped them… You helped us… and we can’t thank you enough for that. Today we have a little extra pep in our step because of ya’ll and we are ready to get the job done. I do have one last thing to ask all of you to do for us…. Enjoy the time with friends and family, hold your loved ones closer, and say “I love you”, “I’ve missed you”, or even “Thank you for being in my life” one extra time this holiday season; some of us won’t have that chance. From the Marines here, Happy Holidays!

Dear Sir/Ma’am
Thank you very much for the extremely thoughtful and generous box. We are a multi-national group of 12 who have responsibility for assessing campaign progress. It keeps us pretty busy. Frequently we have to work some comically long hours – in those the times, the snacks really come in handy as we struggle to keep mentally alert while being fairly sleep deprived. Given the multi-national composition of our group (we have an Italian, a Turk, a Spanish guy, and a Brit). We really had a lot of fun collectively opening and unloading the box. It turned into an opportunity for us to teach our NATO partners some parts of American culture. The Whoopi cushion, in particular, was a monumental hit. Even as I am writing, I can hear the team having fun with it. Our NATO friends are having a hard time understanding the whole Whoopi cushion concept. We also really appreciate the Xmas items. I, myself, have a 13 year old son and 12 year old daughter. Being away from them is understandably the hardest part of being here. Your Xmas items really helped to bring the spirit of Xmas into our shop. That may sound a bit corny, but it is true. So on behalf of the Afghan Assessment Group.
Thank you

I received the care packages today. OMG it was a whole pallet at the post office. They had to stage it outside because the post office is little more than a wooden shack. I can’t believe all of the Fusion Razors. Just as I received the packages a Seal LT was looking for a razor he needed a shave bad and was avoiding all the Sergeants Majors but now he is hooked up. Hopefully it will be good advertisement like it was back in WWI and we will get them coming back using Fusions razors. I will be packaging up the goodies and sending them to my troops.
I really like the cards from the kids they brought tears to my eyes as I read them. In the next week we will be bringing the toys, gloves and candy to the Afghan kids. I will take some pictures.
If you guys send more packages let me give you the addresses of some of my guys. We have plenty now.
Thank Everyone from Southie for me!!!!

Keep up the great work you people do there at CarePacks.

Dear CarePacks,
Hello! How are you all and your families? I hope that all is well for you. We really appreciate all the hard work you have done in the past and present for all of us Soldiers here in Iraq. Because I love to write, I was asked to write CarePacks a thank you note from our unit- the Stallions. I took pride and honor in doing so.
My name is PFC Hill and I’m originally from Taunton, MA. Among my superiors are Sgts Edmenton and Fifield, also from MA. We all talk about our homestate and how much we miss it. I especially miss Taunton and all the people I grew up with, including my family, church and friends.
It seems weird sometimes how we all come from different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities but we all get along and work together so well. However, we all miss Good, Kind-Hearted people like yourselves. God Bless You All and your Families!

Hello from Iraq,
I am writing this note first and foremost to say thank you for all your prayers and support. On behalf of the Officers and Soldiers deployed here with me, I want to say that we really do enjoy the notes, words of encouragement and of course the goodies. What we get from the many notes, letters and packages is a sense of not being alone in this war. We, as Americans, are all in this together, whether we agree or disagree with the decision to go to war. We all personally know friends, family members, their children or co-workers who are a member of the Army, Air Force, Navy or Marines serving in Iraq/Afghanistan. For generations, mail call has been an automatic morale booster for deployed troops. Despite modern day email and cell phones, opening a package or a letter from the USA takes a Soldier’s mind off his present situation for a few minutes. So we thank you, our fellow Americans, for spiritually being here with us in your own special way. God Bless America!
Respectfully,
MSG Bernard J. Mays

Dear CarePacks,
Thank you for the care package. It’s now Christmas time and I think that this Christmas will be one I will never forget. I’m not sure how it’s going to be, but I’m sure it won’t be the same without my family. Although my temporary family is here, and we will all find something to do in order to pass the time, there is no place like home. Even though I’m in Iraq, the weather is still cold, but I don’t think it will snow. I truly appreciate that people I have never met care so much. Please continue to support the troops and keep us in your prayers.

Dear CarePacks (especially Mr. Ron Zooleck, Ms. Sue Messing, and Mr. Stephen Doyle),
I am writing to thank you for your donation of the care packages. We appreciate the contents- soap candy and other items- very much. You have greatly contributed to our knowing that US citizens have not forgotten us and that you care. Thank you for this as well as for your gifts.
We really appreciate the books and magazines very much- good or bad, they take our minds off the business at hand. You have greatly contributed to our having books and magazines that allow our soldiers to take a break, relax and read.
I apologize for not writing sooner to say thank you and acknowledge your gracious gifts. We have been extremely busy as our training seminars are in great demand and have been extremely well attended. It has taken much longer than expected to gain some breathing space and compose this note.
We need your active support to facilitate our success in protecting out Nation’s freedom regardless of where our operations take us. We appreciate your moral and tangible support more than we can describe in this note.
Again, thank you for all you are doing for our Nation and Armed Forces. Thank you for thinking of us and acting. We are your Army.
I remain very respectfully,

Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for your care package support. I have been putting these items out for the military service personnel. Words cannot adequately express how much these little touches from home touch their lives. Many of our personnel comng through here have had to pack quickly and/or are coming here from the battle stress of Iraq or Afghanistan, so the snacks and personal hygiene items you sent really do make a difference to lift morale.
On behalf of our commander, nel Thomas F. Lynch III and the other members of our Installation Ministry Team, I thank you for your care and attention to our troops. And, most of all, we want to thank you for your prayers.

Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for the goodies! I hope that your medical bills weren’t too high after carrying that load to the post office! WOW! We really appreciate it. Since we are at “the tip of the spear,” that is, the most forward unit in combat, we don’t have any place we can find stuff like you sent. You truly are making a difference in the lives of our soldiers. We are more grateful than you could possibly know.for your thoughtfulness anf kindness. They remind us that we are appreciated, supported and loved. Few things are more important to us.
Perhaps the only other thing which I am hearing from soldiers that is more important to them , is to know that they are remembered and have not been forgotten. And we can honestly say, at least in South Weymouth, MA, that this is true. Thank you for remembering us as we live, work and fight in a distant place far from home.
Although I am personally from northwestern Pennsylvania, if I am ever in South Weymouth, I will make it a point to personally stop by and thank you. Until then, please know that I shall always be,
Faithfully Yours,

Dear Mr. Doyle,
I want to thank you for the two packages I recently received from CarePacks. One was a 4 foot tall Christmas tree, and one was a care pack with an assortment of items. Thanks for the support! I put the Christmas tree up in my room and decorated it with art that my kids sent me. Additionally, the box with useful items came in handy right away, particularly the coffee and writing paper, as well as hygiene items. My soldiers and I also enjoyed reading the letters from three children included in the package. Jaime, Josh, and Jeremy drew pictures and wrote letters to us, and when I began reading them to my troops, they shared letters they had received from other children. We spent several hours sharing stories and letters. Jaime, Josh and Jeremy’s letters ended up on my office wall. Some of the soldiers carry the letters they’ve received with them everywhere they go. Thanks for the support and, most of all, for reminding us why we do, what we do. I am proud to be an American Soldier and your fellow countryman.
Thank you, CarePacks,

To All at Carepacks,
At times it feels as though two simple words such as Thank You are insufficient when expressing the gratitude felt by the soldiers here in Iraq towards the thoughtfulness you have shown by putting together packages to share with us. You would all smile to see grown men clamor to open a package or see what is in someone else’s package as mail time rolls around. Feels like Christmas morning when little kids run from package to package with a smile and a slight hope there is something there for them. So you see, it doesn’t really matter the name of the soldier on the package, we all share in its bounty.
Because our job here in Iraq is to train all incoming Iraqi recruits we also use the items sent to give a little something to the Iraqis for their families. They have so little that something we take for granted everyday, such as a candy bar, a tube of toothpaste, or a hat is a significant gift to them. Please let all know that the gifts they give are used in their entirety, nothing goes to waste. Most importantly though, you have made it a bit more comfortable for us during our separation from home.
Thanks to each person who has given of their own free time to help us in whatever way possible.
SSG Ken S.

Dear CarePacks (especially Ashley),
Thanks for all of the support. It means so much to know strangers back home are thinking of us. Thank you for taking the time to find soldiers and send them care packages. You sure do know how to pack some goodies! I wish I could do more than just send a card. If you send me an email address, I will send some pictures of the soldiers that you helped out. I would love to hear from you. Hope all is well back home.

Dear CarePacks Group,
Thank you for keeping us U.S. soldiers in your thoughts. The care package was such a pleasant surprise. Please [thank] Kathy P. for referring me…and tell Abby [her card] was wonderful….I really liked the long-sleeve black T-shirt and bandana. Also the white ankle socks are just what we use with our physical training uniform. I was able to give the big brush to a female soldier caught in the washroom without hers. She is from Texas and said I had a cool accent. So don’t think that just because you live in Massachusetts you don’t have an accent. I was surprised at all the…comments made because of [mine]….It takes all kinds to make the world go around. I want to thank you for being kind.
Sincerely,

Dear CarePacks,
I just received my CarePack. I just wanted to thank you and especially Gail who packed it for me. I shared it with my shipmates. I am the Assistant Operations Officer of the USS Essex. We left our home port…last August 13, are wrapping up our deployment, and are bringing Marines…back to [home port]. We were also called upon to assist in the Humanitarian Operations off of Indonesia with the Tsunami victims in January. It is nice to be thought of by the folks back home.
Thank you again.
Respectfully,

Thank you for the package. Everything was very much appreciated. The coffee was great, for I can’t seem to find a Dunkin Donuts anywhere. I know SPC J. Fox also received a package from you and he also appreciated it very much. Everything here in Iraq is going good. It makes being here easier with all of the support that we are getting from home.
Thanks again,

Dear CarePacks,
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for the thoughtful package you sent. Thanks to Gail for packing it. It is great to know people back home care about us over here, especially [people] in Weymouth. I’m from North Weymouth. The guys in my platoon also loved all the candy and gum; all that little stuff means so much. Thanks for the stationary also. This is what I’m writing to you today. Me and all the guys from 844th EN BN say thanks for your thoughts and package.
Stay safe and take care.

Thank you so much for the care package. It is nice to know that people back home still think about us. I really liked the “Cowboy Up” shirt and the protein bars. It is good to have stuff I can eat on the go. Thanks again. Just to let you know, I am redeploying in 1 month or so, so I do not need any more care packages.
Thanks.

Greetings,
My name is Sergeant David T. Rowland. I am part of 1st Battalion 25th Marines located in Massachusetts and we are currently deployed forward in Iraq. I heard of your program to help support the troops and think it’s an outstanding program and it has lifted the spirits and morale of our men greatly. One of my Marines received a couple of packages from this program and spread the food and items around to his fellow Marines. I just wanted to thank the ladies and gentlemen who have contributed and I hope your program continues to get the support and funding needed to continue to support our troops. Thank you.
Respectfully Submitted,

Dear CarePacks,
I want to thank you for your support and I want you to know that it means a lot to us soldiers out here. Pvt. Burgess shared a lot of her stuff. Fortunately, I was given the Red Sox poster because she knows I’m a great fan of the Red Sox. Thanks a lot for that and God Bless.

Dear CarePacks,
I recently received your package and wanted to thank you for it.
It was packed by Gregory Killian and Ryan Plunkett on his 9th birthday with help from his friends. I just wanted to let you know that myself and the other Marines I work with enjoyed the contents of the package very much. It is a great program you are running and I hope you are able to keep supporting my fellow Marines and other service members. Thanks again for everything.

Dear Mr. Doyle,
I want to thank you for the two packages I recently received from CarePacks. One was a 4 foot tall Christmas tree, and one was a carepack
with an assortment of items. Thanks for the support !
I put the Christmas tree up in my room and decorated it with art that my
kids sent me. Additionally, the box with useful items came in handy right away, particularly the coffee and writing paper, as well as hygiene items.
My soldiers and I also enjoyed reading the letters from three children
included in the package. Jaime, Josh, and Jeremy drew pictures and wrote letters to us, and when I began reading them to my troops, they
shared letters they had received from other children. We spent several hours sharing stories and letters. Jaime, Josh and Jeremy’s letters ended
up my office wall. Some of the soldiers, carry the letters they’ve received,
with them everywhere they go.
Thanks for the support and, most of all, for reminding why we do, what
we do, I am proud to be an American Soldier and your fellow countryman.
Thank you, CarePacks,
Captain Pickands

Ashley,
Thanks for all of the support. It means so much to know strangers back home are thinking of us. Thank you for taking the time to find soldiers and send them care packages. You sure do know how to pack some goodies. I wish I could do more than just send a card. If you send me an email address, I will send some pictures of the soldiers that you helped out. I would love to hear from ya. Hope all is well back home.
Take care & God Bless

Dearest CarePacks,
Thanks so much for the pkg. I was amazed at how much stuff you were able to fit in that box! Me and the guys are enjoying everything you sent. Yea, I had to share cause I opened it in my hooch when my buddies were all there. It’s all good though. They’re all jealous too cause they like the Yankees! Nice T-Shirt by the way. And the Boston police patch has me very honored. You’ve made our time here in Iraq a little better. Thank you all very much! Tell little Matt Mullen HOORAA!

Dear Friends,
On behalf of the officers and soldiers of Task Force Panther, thank you so much for the goodies. We really appreciate it. Since we are at ”the tip of the spear”, we don’t have many luxuries but
your TLC makes our lives a little easier. You truly are making a difference in the lives of our soldiers. we are more grateful than you could possibly know or understand.
Perhaps, the only other thing, which I am hearing from other soldiers, is to know that they are
remembered, not forgotten. We can honestly say that at least back in Weymouth, MA , that is true!
Thank you for remembering us as we live, work, and fight in a distant place far from home.
MAJ Chaplin,
Doug Etter
To All at Carepacks,
At times it feels as two simple words such as Thank You is insufficient when expressing the gratitude felt by the soldiers here in Iraq towards the thoughtfulness you have shown with your putting together packages to share with us. You would all smile to see grown men clamor to open a package or see what is in someone else’s package as mail time rolls around. Feels like Christmas morning when litlle kids run from package to package with a smile and a slight hope there is something there for them. So you see, it doesn’t really matter the name of the soldier on the package, we all share in its bounty.
Because our job here in Iraq is to train all incoming Iraqi recruits we also use the items sent to give a little something to the Iraqi’s for their families. They have so little that something we take for granted everyday, such as a candy bar, a tube of toothpaste, or a hat is a significant gift to them. Please ensure you let all know that the gifts they give are used in their entirety, nothing goes to waste. Most importantly though, you have made it a bit more comfortable for us during our separation from home.
Thanks to each person who has given of their own free time to help us in whatever way possible.
